Half Moon Bay occupies approximately 132 fee simple, undeveloped oceanfront acres in Saint Philip Parish along Antigua’s southeast coast, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire Caribbean. Situated 2.5 miles southeast of Freetown, the crescent bay faces east toward the prevailing southeast winds with a large, offshore reef that calms the bay waters and protects the beach.
Many possibilities exist for a new buyer when considering the development of this exceptional property. Rosewood Hotels examined the property most recently with plans that included a 47-room luxury boutique hotel, 44 branded for-sale villas, eight for-sale beachfront villas and 17 estate home sites, all part of the master-planned residential resort community. Planned accommodations included pavilion-style suites with an ultra-luxurious three-bedroom presidential suite. Each unit was to feature ocean views and thoughtful amenities including private infinity plunge pools, hammocks, open-air baths and showers, plus live orchid walls in each bathroom. Architectural design elements were envisioned to reflect Caribbean history with a classic, timeless feel, coupled with modern amenities and services.
Plans for the resort included multiple swimming pools, a pool grill and beach bar, complete fitness center and signature spa, as well as an organic farm. Several innovative dining and lounge concepts were also contemplated, with the resort’s signature lounge inspired by the flavors, colors and culture of the West Indies on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean.
