The Government of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis will invest EC$19M to support the promotion of the islands as a major tourist destination, as announced by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L Douglas. Through implementation via the Tourism Strategy and Yachting Policy the government hopes to increase GDP growth through visitor expenditure and consumption.
The EC$19M investment is almost 9% over the previous budget. The additional funds will facilitate increased airlift, and aspect critical to growth of the Federation’s economy. The islands have already experienced an increase of 11,000+ inbound seats in 2014, relative to 2013. This trend is expected to continue with increases in service by American Airlines for service from Miami, Delta Airlines resuming flights, and a return to the islands by Air Canada this past December 20th.
